Our old friend and regular BPC NEWS contributor Miles Gilbert is responsible for this issue’s cover featuring a great photograph of James H. Cook. Mr. Cook led a fascinating life on the western frontier and was a character that Miles has done considerable research about. You would be hard pressed to find a better man to “ride the river with” than Jim Cook, who was an excellent rifleman, hunter and gentleman in a time when those qualities very seldom accompanied one another.
Read Mile’s article in this issue and see if you don’t agree that James H. Cook was indeed a rare personage in the Old West. Thanks, Miles, for giving us more great information on one of our favorite frontiersmen.
